Landscape Case Study – Woodley Spring 24

<< Back

Starting with a ground clearance and excavation of the current block paving, wall, shed, fences, concrete base and lawn, new fences were installed around the perimeter of the garden using good quality closed boards panels and concrete posts and gravel boards. The fence follows the same boundary line and follows the same gradient as the garden.

Taller posts and double sized gravel boards were be used around the back garden to deter rodents being able to dig under the fence.

A good quality pressure treated tongue and groove gate was installed replacing the current one.

Drainage gullies were  installed along the length of the house using good quality metal acco gullies. These were cemented into place at the correct height of the patio and will feed into the current down pipe and drains along the house.

Armoured cable was laid in place in preparation for future lighting within the garden, and for the connection of a water feature.

A retaining block wall was built to separate  the lower patio area with the higher lawn area. The front of the wall was cladded with a nice contrasting porcelain tile

A water feature was installed in the centre of the new retaining wall.

A patio was installed measuring 55m²  using 900cm by 600cm  porcelain paving slabs that are similar mottled grey tone to the driveway.

A recess drain cover was  installed within the patio. This was done to look part of the patio whilst still allowing access.

Two sets of steps were installed either side of the main patio taking you up to the top area. They were faced with nice porcelain cladding and topped with the same slabs as the patio.

The new semi circled area at the top of the garden was re-laid with geo-textile weed membrane and have MOT Type 1 sub-base levelled and compacted.

The shape of the lawn is now governed with a new hidden concrete edge which the grass is secured to using high specialist glue.

The area then had grano dust brought in and compacted and levelled in preparation for the installation of  have high quality artificial grass. The total area turfed was 20m².

Coping Stones were installed upon the top of the wall with a nice smooth finish which can also therefore be used as an alternative seating platform.

A contrasting row of porcelain setts were installed to define the top patios with the artificial lawn and new border.
