Garden Design Case Study – Wokingham town centre

Rectory Road, Wokingham Summer 24

This project began with a full ground clearance and excavation of the old decking, stepping stones and area of ground/lawn in order to incorporate a new L-shaped deck and patio area.

An L-shaped step was installed on the corner of the extension to encompass the two large bifold doors. It was built with concrete blocks laid upon a strong concrete footing and then faced with porcelain slabs. The steps were laid just under the threshold of the door and topped with the Quartz grey patio slabs.

To create an aesthetic alternative terrain between the main patio on the left and the patio steps on the right a nice gravelled area was created.

A few planting pockets were left so that some Mediterranean style plants can be placed in amongst the gravel.

The same gravel was used to link the right hand side of the house with the path coming from the gate.

A patio measuring 55m²  using 900cm by 600cm Snowden Whiten porcelain paving slabs supplied by PHI was then installed. The patio was laid in a staggered  pattern with the rain water draining away from the house with a shingle gap installed where needed against the fence line.

Each individual slab was pre-sealed underneath with SBR Bonding agent before being laid.

A second 15m²   patio was installed in the corner of the garden using Indian Sandstone Silver Grey paving slabs. The front right hand corner of the patio was curved with the use of matching sandstone bricks. These were also be used to retain the patio.
